Agricola Castellana wine - red, white, rose - Rueda, Spain!

The Agricola Castellana Cooperative, situated in the heart of the Rueda D.O., was set up in La Seca (Valladolid) by small number of dedicated vine growers wishing to add value to their products.

Today, it consists of some 400 members who cultivate 2000 hectares of vineyards with modern equipment for the production of 7 millions of liters of wine per harvest and facilities for manufacturing one million of these in oak.

The Bodega has up to date machinery for the reception of the grapes, pneumatic presses and temperature controlled, stainless steel vessels for fermentation, all of which have contributed enormously to improve the quality of the wines.

From the beginning of its history, Agricola Castellana has been known as a modern winery which breaks with the general image of Cooperatives. Its quick adaptation to the new tendencies in viticulture and wine elaborating process, its high inversions in technology and good customers’ service have achieved this image

The area of production covered by the Rueda D.O. is located in Castilla y Leon and is made up of 72 municipalities, of which 53 are situated in the south of the province of Valladolid, 17 to the west of Segovia and 2 to the north of Avila.

During 2002 Agricola Castellana have adapted company policy to the Quality Management ISO 9001-2000. This approval guarantees the excellent quality of products through the hard controls of wine process elaboration

Nowadays, the star wine is that of the harvest, without ageing and the result of the most complete hygiene. In the wines of Rueda, the factors which defend and reveal the sense of belonging, of origin, in short, the essence of the "terroir", provide elements which have more significance than the volume or ageing times.

This defense of the origin is established as part of the philosophy of the authenticity, where the primary and original characters are preferred to the hegemony of the factors of the end of the wine making process, demonstrating a marked closeness to the character of the land, and turning it into an unquestionable protagonist.
